Created by professional VA and DIT personell, SetShare has it's roots in Video Assist Hungary. One of the top rental shops in continental Europe, our company has decades of experience in gear and personnel. We are part of a rental crew from cameras to sound stages, so possibilities of testing out new technologies is close by.
While there are great streaming solutions, they either focus on producing a good quality camera stream, or on communication. In most cases, users have to run more than one app on more devices at the same time, wasting time and resources. Our system integrates camera feeds, two-way video and audio, plus chat between the set and clients themselves.
SetShare was originally developed for commercials, with tools aimed at agency and creatives. Since we came online in August 2020, we had almost as many big-time features and TV shows calling us. We adjusted our product to work in both environments and added tools specific for big crews and long-form TV shows.
Clients and moderators can log in from anywhere in the world with a browser. No need to install additional software and no limitation about using PC or Mac.
With our streamer app, end-to-end delay is usually under 5 frames (200 milliseconds). We can feed HD 1080p and 720p in H264 compression for high quality images to the clients.
Our interface was designed for creatives and producers - people who concentrate on visuals, not technology. The moderator(s) can control anybody's screen, to help the decisionmakers concentrate on their vision.
The contents of the page seen by the clients are 100% customizable by the moderator. Any stream or client's camera can be resized, positioned, or turned on or off. Multiple layouts can be saved for full screen cameras, discussion, or between takes.
Our dedicated app ensures very low delay while running hardware or software encoding on any Mac or PC. One average Macbook Pro can encode 4 HD streams while running the moderator interface too. The app can be set to autorun after the first setup, or can be run in background on a video assist machine.
The servers can accept several camera feeds. Usually that would be feeding SDI or NDI into our streamer, but you can directly use RTMP devices like Teradek Bolt or webcams. SDI sources can arrive thru any mix of Aja or Blackmagic capture card.
Moderators can invite clients with a single link. A link can be used once or multiple times, with time limits on activation and length of membership. First time clients can create an account, or use their existing Google or Apple logins. At invitation, the moderator can add or take rights away (but these can be changed later)
Multiple rooms can be created from the main one, where the participants can talk only amongst themselves. All rooms get the camera streams. The moderator can move clients between rooms for information exchange.
For clients who log in on their phones, the default layout would only show the camera streams for a more conventional streaming experience. It is more familiar for make-up, script, or art dept. However, they have the option to join the audio discussion and chat, which proved to be very popular.
While there are no software limits, our experience show you can easily stream 4 cameras (or 3 main cameras and a witness cams) in a room. You can have about 40 clients logged into a single room, or a number of sub rooms.
Because its flexibility, the SetShare server can accept multiple camera streams from several locations, plus multiple streams from the same streamer. The streamer app is independent from a moderator, and can run on a separate computer on a different stage.
We are using the newest industry-standard encryption on our servers and transmissions, with AES-128 and RSA-256bit keycodes.
It is hard to convey some things over an online connection. So we added a way to draw on the live image, or on a separate whiteboard. Indicate camera moves, eyelines, or just areas of interest.
Scout or witness mode turns your mobile phone into a live camera for everybody else in the streaming room. You can use this function on location scouts, or on a shoot day showing the next set while the cameras move. You are still connected thru audio, so you can get directions or explain areas on camera.
For situations where we have a client who needs a broadcast monitor, or a set display, we have a SetShare decoder running on Raspberry Pi. Connect it to a Sony OLED or other display with HDMI, and you will get an instant image from the preselected stream.
SetShare clients can select external sound cards. This allows you to integrate with wireless headsets and intercoms such as HME or other 4-way systems
We have server capacity in both Europe and the West Coast of the USA. These are connected with direct high speed line. Clients automatically look for the closest server for the lowest delay.
